The School opened in 1991 with just two classes and 27 pupils. It now has  345 pupils, 11 classrooms, and 65 members of staff, including 17 teaching staff. It was originally conceived as a local school for children living in East Ogwell, but as it has grown, in reputation and size, so has the radius of its intake. Pupils now attend from many outlying districts, including Chudleigh, Ipplepen, Bittaford, Kingsteignton and Abbotskerswell..

Headteacher, Delphine Knott, is only the second head since the school opened, taking over from the first head, Robin Dolman, in 2004 when he retired.

The extensive school grounds have been developed over many years to create new learning environments. There is a ‘Big Top’ Early Years covered outdoor area, plus gardens, vegetable plots, pergola, environmental area, pond, ‘Band Stand’ and various timber trails / assault courses. In September 2011 the school gained its own on-site Forest School. All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 spend half a day engaged in practical Forest School activities with a fully trained Forest School leader.
