Ogwell tradition gets revived

On Saturday 17th May, local residents and Ogwell parish councillors joined together to ‘beat the bounds’ of Ogwell – for the first time in decades. The weather was perfect for the group who walked nine miles taking in the sights of Bradley Park, the River Lemon, Holbeam Dam, and a quick diversion to the Union Inn, Denbury.

Joined later by close neighbours from Ilsington parish who share part of the boundary with Ogwell, and County Councillor Alistair Dewhirst, the event attracted a range of residents from experienced walkers to young children, and gave them a great opportunity to explore some of the popular and lesser known footpaths in Ogwell.

Interest and enthusiasm was so great on the day, an Ogwell Walking Group is being set up with the first meeting being held on Thursday 5th June at 8pm in the Jolly Sailor, Ogwell. There are a variety of footpaths in the parish to enjoy; all are well maintained, and there’s an open invitation to take part in future walks. Those interested but unable to attend the inaugural meeting can email walk@ogwell.org for more information.
